Start with the head count, not the boat

One number decides everything about a bachelorette or bachelor boat day: whether the group is 12 or fewer, or 13 and up. At 12 or fewer, the legal ceiling stops mattering — you are choosing on style, budget and each boat’s own listed capacity. Count every guest who will step aboard, including the bride and anyone joining only for the sunset leg. A group of ten has nearly the whole market to shop. A group of fifteen, across the two East Coast markets below, is choosing between exactly three boats as of August 2026: a 40-guest catamaran in Palm Beach, and a 49-guest party boat and an 85-guest event yacht in the Hamptons.

What a boat day costs per person

Split across a full boat, the value picks in the live fleet run from $69 per person on the 40-guest Palm Beach catamaran to $208 on a captained 12-guest Hamptons day boat, August 2026 — with the premium yachts far above that, up to $785 a head on the 62-foot Pershing. The table spans the fleet’s party picks, and the spread is the whole decision: the biggest certified boats deliver the lowest per-head cost, and the premium yachts price the other way.

The per-person figures only hold when the seats fill: the 40-guest catamaran with 15 aboard is $183 each — still respectable, no longer remarkable. Budget the rest at quote stage: BoatRental.com itemises its 8% renter service fee before you send a request (operators pay their own 10% on their side), and on crewed boats fuel and a customary 15-20% crew gratuity are billed on top — extras that commonly add 20-30% to the base rate on a large yacht.

Miami, Palm Beach or the Hamptons?

Pick the market by date before anything else: Hamptons operators list June to September and the season effectively runs Memorial Day to Labor Day, while Palm Beach operators list November to April and Miami peaks over the same winter months. A summer celebration points to Long Island; a winter or spring one points to Florida.

Miami is the busiest charter market in the United States: captained day boats run $700-$1,500 and crewed 40-50 ft yachts $1,500-$3,500 in 2026, and a summer weekday books the same boat 20-40% below its winter-Saturday price, with the calmest water in the morning.

Palm Beach is the per-person value: eight boats from $1,499 to $7,290 per day, anchored by the 63-foot, 40-guest catamaran at $2,750 — the lowest per-head number in the table above. The Hamptons is the range play: 31 boats from $475 to $11,769 per day, median $2,499, and the only 49- and 85-guest party vessels in the live fleet.

Book it in this order

Lock the boat three to five weeks ahead for a July or August Saturday in the Hamptons, and two to four weeks for a peak-season weekend in Miami. The certified big-group boats are single points of failure — one 40-guest boat in Palm Beach, one 49-guest boat in the Hamptons — so they go first. Everything else about the day can be decided later; the boat cannot.
