To become a captain on boatrental.com, start by signing up on our website and selecting the “Become a Captain” option. Complete your profile by submitting your qualifications, including your boating credentials and experience. Once your credentials are verified by our team, you’ll be approved to join our network of captains. You can then connect with boat owners or renters looking for a licensed captain.

To join as a captain, you must hold a valid U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Captain’s License (such as a Six-Pack or Master License) or equivalent certification, depending on your location. You should also have relevant boating experience, a clean safety record, and comply with all local and federal regulations for operating vessels. Additional certifications, like CPR or First Aid, are a plus and may make your profile stand out.

Captains are paid directly through our secure payment system. When a renter books a trip with you, the captain’s fee (set by you or agreed upon with the boat owner) is collected at booking. Payments are transferred to your designated bank account via direct deposit within 2-3 business days after the trip is completed, minus any applicable platform fees.

You can manage your bookings through your captain dashboard on boatrental.com. The dashboard allows you to view inquiries, accept or decline bookings, communicate with renters or owners, and update your availability calendar. You’ll receive notifications for new requests, and our system helps you keep track of upcoming trips.
There are no upfront fees to join as a captain on boatrental.com. However, a service fee (typically a small percentage of your captain’s fee) is deducted from each booking to cover platform maintenance, payment processing, and customer support. You’ll see the exact fee breakdown before confirming any booking.
